| About the Composer Máté Hollós was born in 1954 in Budapest, Hungary. Hollós majored in composition and graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest, 1980. The greater part of his oeuvre was written for chamber music ensembles. He also wrote solo pieces for various instruments, concertos, songs, song cycles, cantatas, choral compositions, an oratorio, electro-acoustic music, film music, and works for symphony and string orchestras. Hollós’ compositions have been played all over Europe and North America. In addition, a portrait film was developed by the International Society of Contemporary Music in 1986 regarding Hollós and his works. Hollós has received many honors, including: the Prize of the Audience in the Rostrum of the Hungarian Radio in 1992, the Erkel Prize in 1997, the Béla Bartók–Ditta Pásztory Award in 1998, and the László Lajtha Prize in 2004.
